Russia blocks ProtonMail and ProtonVPN

The Russian government has blocked access to Proton Technologies end-to-end encrypted email service ProtonMail as well as to the company’s VPN service ProtonVPN for failing to comply with local laws.In a press release, Russia’s telecommunications watchdog Roskomnadzor explained why it decided to block access to the company’s services, saying:“This email service was used by cybercriminals both in 2019 and especially actively in January 2020 to send false messages about the massive mining of objects in the Russian Federation under the guise of reliable information. The company responded with a categorical refusal to Roskomnadzor’s repeated requests for information to be included in the register of information dissemination organizers on the Internet. Information about the administrators of the mailboxes used to send threats has not been provided.”
ProtonMail adds encrypted calendar to its mail serviceHow safe is Tor? Ask the CIAProtonVPN releases source code and undergoes full security audit
Last year Russia passed a new law which requires all VPN providers to sign up for a government system that helps facilitate the sharing of information between the companies and its security services. However, Proton Technologies, as well as many other VPN providers, refused to register its services with state authorities and this is why the recent block on ProtonMail and ProtonVPN was put in place by Roskomnadzor.
Bypassing the block
Proton Technologies provided further details on how its services are currently down in Russia in an incident report on its status page, which reads:“We have received reports that Proton is currently blocked in Russia. We are reaching out to the appropriate authorities to get the block lifted as soon as possible. This block affects ProtonMail and ProtonVPN users who were not logged in before the block was implemented. For now, we recommend using the TOR network (via the TOR Browser) to access our services.”In addition to trying to have the block lifted as quickly as possible, the company also provided users with a workaround in the form of the TOR Browser though users who were already logged on before the block went into place will still be able to access its services. Now that Roskomnadzor has blocked ProtonVPN, we could see the Russian telecommunications watchdog take action against other VPN services currently operating in the country.

6 great features of Wi-Fi 6 enabled by Intel Ice Lake

Intel’s 10th Gen Ice Lake CPUs (which you’ll find in 2-in-1 devices like the HP Spectre X360 and clamshell laptops such as the HP Envy) offer a ton of benefits, with arguably one of the best ones being that the chip is compatible with Wi-Fi 6. Wi-Fi 6 is the latest Wi-Fi standard out there, and with each passing day more and more locations are upgrading their routers to support Wi-Fi 6 devices. But just what does Wi-Fi 6 bring to the table, anyway? Here are six great ways that Wi-Fi 6 can and will improve your experience with web browsing and beyond.
Better raw speeds
Right out of the gate, the most noticeable benefit that Wi-Fi 6 will provide to users is a sizable increase in throughput speeds between a device and the network it’s connected to. Specifically, according to Intel, users will potentially see a peak increase of 40 percent with Wi-Fi 6 compared to the previous Wi-Fi standard. Users will be able to feel this increase all the time during usage, and people who like to stream video in particular will love the boost to speed, as it will significantly increase stream stability.
Increased network stability
Wi-Fi 6 networks are considerably more stable than ones that use the previous standard, which in turn means that you’re a lot less likely to experience any connection issues while using the network. This will be especially noticeable when using a network that has several devices connected to it at once, as the better stability will help networks balance the increased stress that comes from multiple connections.
Increased network capacity
Wi-Fi 6 networks also have a greater capacity for simultaneous connections than the last Wi-Fi standard. They come with a brand new improved version of the multi-user, multiple-input, multiple-output (MU-MIMO) technology that networks use to stream data to several devices at one time. Previously, networks were limited to only being able to handle four simultaneous connections before resorting to rapid switching between devices. With Wi-Fi 6’s new MU-MIMO advancements, networks can now handle eight connections. This improvement may sound like something that will only matter in congested public areas, but in truth, it will matter a lot in the home, too. After all, the average American household has more than nine Wi-Fi devices on average.
Higher speeds in congested areas
As a result of all the stellar network improvements, Wi-Fi 6 boasts the ability to improve your throughput by up to four times while using networks that have a ton of connections at once. As long as the network you’re using is Wi-Fi 6, you’re going to see a dramatic increase in overall speed when in heavily-congested areas compared to the previous Wi-Fi standard. Whether you’re in crowded households or sports stadiums, you can expect your speeds to quadruple.
Better battery life
One of the powerful technologies that comes with Wi-Fi 6 is Target Wake Time (TWT), which allows a Wi-Fi 6 access point to minimize the amount of time a device needs to be “awake” in order to send and receive signals to the network while in sleep mode. In simple terms, this means that Wi-Fi 6 devices will use less power to stay connected than other ones do, thus resulting in a considerably better device battery life.
More effective security
Every Wi-Fi 6 network is protected by the latest Wi-Fi security protocol, WPA3. WPA3 is significantly more efficient and effective than the previous protocol, WPA2, because it has more safety measures in place to protect against password-cracking hacks. In the very, very unlikely event that one of those hacks ends up succeeding, WPA3 also comes with secondary safeguards that will shield your past network activity from intruders.
The future looks brighter with Wi-Fi 6

Wi-Fi 6 networks and devices are chock-full of exciting, beneficial features that will benefit users now, and for many years to come as well. Whether you’re looking for big increases in your browsing speed, a more stable network experience, or the latest in Wi-Fi security, a Wi-Fi 6 router and a device like the HP Pavilion X360 fitted with one of Intel’s Wi-Fi 6-enabling 10th Gen Ice Lake CPUs are your tickets to a convenient, efficient, and problem-free future with your tech.Browse all HP laptops currently powered by Intel 10th Gen Processors here

The Fast and Furious 9 trailer is here, featuring John Cena as Dominic Toretto’s brother

Update: The full trailer for Fast and Furious 9, officially called F9, is here, and it features a car swinging over a chasm, a car strapped to some rockets and lots of talk of “family”, among a myriad of returning series characters. Check it out below. You can go see Fast 9 on May 22, 2020.

Original story: The full trailer for Fast 9 will be released this Friday, but in the meantime, a one-minute teaser is doing the rounds, featuring Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez. Now parents to a son named Brian (of course), Dominic Toretto and Letty Ortiz appear to be in semi-retirement. A larger threat is teased for this movie, which is apparently the penultimate mainline entry in the Fast and Furious series (which sounds incredibly unlikely in this age of the undying movie franchise). Check out the Fast 9 teaser trailer below:

How to watch the Fast and Furious movies in orderThe best Netflix movies2020 movies: what to watch this year
This is the first installment directed by Fast Five’s Justin Lin since Fast and Furious 6. The full trailer is being revealed at a Miami concert event on Friday ahead of the Super Bowl, and all plot details have been kept under wraps in the meantime. Still, you can probably expect the other two hours or so of the movie to contain more car chases than you see in the footage above. It’s all a bit retired-Tony-Stark-in-Avengers: Endgame, isn’t it? Hopefully a quaint family life will end better for Dom than it did for Tony.
2020’s biggest movie?
This is a slightly quieter year for big blockbusters, with no Star Wars movie or Marvel movie on the scale of Avengers: Endgame, so you can probably expect Fast 9 to be the biggest of the year at the box office. 2017’s Fast and Furious 7 grossed over $1.2 billion. If you can’t wait for the ninth movie and need more Fast and Furious in your life, Netflix released the animated kids’ TV series Fast and Furious: Spy Racers back in December. Along with last year’s Hobbs and Shaw, the Fast and Furious extended universe somehow seems like it’s becoming a thing.

An iPhone with USB-C might finally happen, thanks to the EU

In the next few years, you may find your future iPhone uses the same charging cable as most Android phones after a ruling today from the European Parliament. The European Parliament has passed a resolution calling for, in its own words, ‘the mandatory introduction of common chargers for all mobile devices’.This means the body wants all smartphones in the future to use the same type of connectivity tech. Instead of iPhones using Lightning, and new budget phones sticking with the older micro-USB, all devices may be forced to switch to the industry standard USB-C. Lightning is Apple’s proprietary tech, so it wouldn’t be possible for all Android phones to start using that instead of USB-C.
These are the best iPhonesCheck out our iPhone 11 Pro Max reviewThe iPhone 12 likely won’t be affected
The EP (European Parliament) has called on the European Commission to increase the rules and legislation compelling companies to follow this future one-charger rule. This follows similar rulings in 2009 when the European Parliament requested Apple to use the then-standard micro-USB. Apple found a loophole around that ruling by providing micro-USB to Lightning converters with its phones instead.Apple, and a variety of budget phone manufacturers who also don’t use USB-C, have until July 2020 to comply, before the European Parliament will look to pass legislation obliging them to.The point of this ruling is to reduce electronic waste, a cause of which can be people needing to buy different chargers for different devices. As well as passing the common chargers rule, the Parliament has called for improved cable recycling facilities and improved compatibility with wireless chargers.
What comes next for Apple?
This ruling is unlikely to impact near future Apple phones like the iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 12. There probably isn’t enough time for the European Parliament or Commission to pass the legislation and enforce it before those new phones come out in 2020.In the future, though, it’s looking more and more likely future iPhones will use USB-C. Saying that, seeing as how MacBooks and the iPad Pro devices already use this standard, it’s possible that Apple was heading in that direction anyway. So what happens for the iPhone 13 and beyond? Well, it’s possible Apple could create two different products, one with Lightning Ports for most of the world and another USB-C product just for European markets. That’s unlikely to happen considering the company would have to design and manufacture two different types of phones just to be able to keep Lightning connectors in certain markets.
The logical choice would be for the future iPhones to have USB-C, and then follow industry trends for whatever follows after that.Another option is if wireless charging becomes popular enough Apple could introduce a device without any ports at all, which relies on wireless transmission of power and data. The tech exists for this already, and we’ve seen it in an Oppo concept device, but it’ll likely be a few years before people are ready to ditch their wires for good.Whatever happens, it’s unlikely this ruling is anything more than a minor inconvenience for Apple, and it doesn’t mean your current iPhone will become redundant any time soon.TechRadar has asked Apple for comment on today’s ruling and will update this article when we hear back.
And for everyone else?
Another big impact of this ruling is for micro-USB. This used to be the standard charging tech for mobile phones, and while most phone companies have moved away from it by now, there are still certain phones that use it, for a very good reason. These phones are all budget phones, usually with double-figure prices, and they use micro-USB since the tech is cheaper to implement on a phone than USB-C.If cheap phones can no longer use micro-USB, there might be some big implications for the low-end market, and in the short term it’s possible there won’t be any super-cheap phones that use the tech. In the long run though, it’s possible the price of USB-C tech will be driven down, making super-affordable phones feasible again.

The top 5 Super Bowl 2020 commercials we can’t wait to see

Ad breaks are seldom included in the fun of television broadcast. In fact, we often mute or ignore them entirely until our show returns. But there’s one night in February when the ad break is finally accepted, celebrated even – the Super Bowl. As the Chiefs and 49ers train, the fans sort their snacks and splash out on Super Bowl TV deals, and the halftime show performers rehearse, the world’s biggest brands are also preparing to take center stage in the eye-wateringly expensive commercial slots. To make the most of advertising’s one night of celebration, we’re taking a look at the five upcoming Super Bowl commercials we know are on their way and can’t wait to see. We’re omitting the Presidential election category here – we all know who’s paying for what during the Super Bowl ad breaks, as well as exactly what they’re trying to sell, so let’s cut straight to the good stuff. If you’re taking a hatred of ads all the way to the big game, check out the best ways to live stream Super Bowl 2020 without commercials.
5. Coca-Cola’s 2020 Super Bowl commercial
Coca-Cola is famous for its Super Bowl commercial prowess (it ranks high in our countdown of best ever Super Bowl commercials), so it’s always going to deliver. That said, we don’t know what it’s offering yet, or even which brands it plans on showing off. What we do know is that Coca-Cola is returning to the traditional ad slot in 2020 after taking a back seat and opting to display a commercial before the National Anthem in 2019. It’s bought a single segment this year, running at 60 seconds, so it definitely has something up its sleeve. What, or who, that is remains a mystery – and we all love a mystery.
4. Hard Rock International’s 2020 Super Bowl commercial
Super Bowl LIV is being played on home turf for Hard Rock International, with the Hard Rock Stadium playing host to the big game this year. That means it’s never been a better time for the resort and casino chain to make its debut appearance in the ad slots. Of course, it had to go and hire Michael Bay to direct the commercial itself – there’s nothing like a bit of Armageddon drama to heighten the impact a little. In front of the camera, however, Hard Rock will be showing off its brand new guitar-shaped hotel at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fl. You’ll find the ad, rumored to be packed to the rafters with top celebrities, just before the halftime show.
3. Sabra’s 2020 Super Bowl commercial
Another newbie bringing something big to the Super Bowl commercial slot, Sabra is hoping to trigger your craving for hummus(!) with its upcoming ad slot starring a whole smorgasbord of reality TV celebs.Sabra has snagged previous Ru Paul’s Drag Race contestants Kim Chi and Miz Cracker as well as T-Pain and Teresa Guidici and Caroline Manzo from The Real Housewives of New Jersey. From what we’ve heard so far, that’s a pretty broad melting pot of reality TV stars, so bringing them all together to celebrate hummus will certainly be a commercial to catch. You’ll find 30 seconds of whatever this ends up to be during the second quarter of the big game.
2. Facebook’s 2020 Super Bowl commercial
We’re not sure what Facebook is trying to convey by sticking Chris Rock and Sylvester Stallone at the bottom of the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Modern Art, but we’re here for it. Facebook enters the Super Bowl commercial space with a setup we’ve known about since Stallone himself leaked behind the scenes footage in December. We know there will be a Rocky callback, some Chris Rock stunts, and some kids making model rockets, all tied back to Facebook’s push for Groups. Let’s just hope it doesn’t run next to the electoral campaigns…
1. Pepsi’s 2020 Super Bowl commercial
Missy Elliott and H.E.R have already been teasing their upcoming Pepsi Super Bowl commercial, and recorded cover of the song Paint It Black, with a series of videos released earlier this month. What exactly Pepsi will be pulling out the bag for its own Super Bowl commercial is uncertain. We know the giants will be using their hallowed time to rebrand Pepsi Zero Sugar, and with their track record of iconic Super Bowl ads, we’re intrigued by the single 30 second slot they’ve booked out for themselves.

Google is open-sourcing its security keys

Security keys provide consumers and businesses alike with a more secure and easier way to log in to online sites and services without using passwords. However, not everyone has access to this technology which is why Google has launched a new open source project called OpenSK to enable hobbyists and hardware vendors to build their own security keys. The company’s new OpenSK initiative utilizes Rust-based firmware to turn chip dongles from Nordic Semiconductor into security keys that support both the FIDO U2F and FIDO2 standards.
You can now use an iPhone as a Google security keyYubico launches world’s first multi-OS security keyGoogle launches USB-C Titan security key
Google has also publicly released the necessary templates for users to 3D print their own OpenSK Key Enclosure to protect their security keys.

In a blog post announcing the new initiative, Google’s security and anti-abuse research lead Elie Bursztein and software engineer Jean-Michel Picod explained why the company chose Nordic’s chips for its open source security keys, saying:“In addition to being affordable, we chose Nordic as initial reference hardware because it supports all major transport protocols mentioned by FIDO2: NFC, Bluetooth Low Energy, USB, and a dedicated hardware crypto core.”Director of product management at Nordic Semiconductor, Kjetil Holstad hopes that OpenSK will lead to mainstream adoption of security keys, saying:“We’re excited to collaborate with Google and the open source community on the new OpenSK research platform. We hope that our industry leading nRF52840’s native support for secure cryptographic acceleration combined with new features and testing in OpenSK will help the industry gain mainstream adoption of security keys.”Google also hopes to expand OpenSK to support other chips in the future though the project is currently in the experimental research phase.

The best cheap MacBook sale prices and deals in February 2020

Finding cheap MacBook prices can be a tough task, but we’ve searched through the sales to dig out the best deals on every model. That’s right, we’ve tracked down the latest offers for every type of Apple laptop out there. We’ve got you covered for the standard 12-inch MacBooks, the 13 and 15-inch MacBook Pros and if you want something that sits between the two, then you’ll want to take a look at our MacBook Air section. We’ve pulled the best cheap Macbook prices from the latest sales on a wide range of Apple’s lineup via our price comparison technology which searches through the best retailers every day. All the newest MacBook models are covered of course, but we’ve also compared prices on some of the older MacBooks still readily available as you can save a lot of money by skipping back to an older model while still getting an excellent piece of tech. All you need to do now is work out whether it’s a MacBook, a MacBook Pro or a MacBook Air that you want. We’ll help though by telling you about each one of them.If you’re not quite set on a MacBook (they are rather pricey), then we have some alternative guides for you. Take a look at our selection of best laptops for other top performing machines or our cheap laptop deals for solid buys that won’t break the bank as we search for great offers all year round. If the freshest MacBook prices are what you’re after though, you’ll find them all below.
Really dive into the world of MacBooks with a discounted magazine subscription to MacLife or MacFormat.

The MacBook Air 2019 is only marginally different from the 2018 version which it looks set to replace. And, sales aside, the 2019 MacBook prices are already a little cheaper at some stores, so it’s generally worth trying to pick up this version instead. The 2019 MacBook Air’s main selling points over the 2018 model is the addition of the MacBook Pro’s True Tone screen that automatically adjusts color temperatures on the screen depending on the ambient light of the room you’re working in. A new third-generation Butterfly keyboard is less likely to see keys sticking or becoming unresponsive too, which has been an issue dogging multiple MacBooks in recent years.

The MacBook Air 2018 includes the excellent Retina screen display from the far more expensive MacBook Pro models, and the bezels are 50% thinner than the previous generation of MacBook Air. The keyboard is four times as stable as before and the Force Touch trackpad is 20% bigger too, which is great for multi-touch interactions. Audio hasn’t been overlooked, as the speakers are now 25% louder and a new mic array means asking Siri for assistance is easier. Touch ID has finally come to the Air series too meaning you can log in or verify purchases via a simple touch. You also get two Thunderbolt ports, but legacy options have been removed, so you may want to consider our guides for the best USB-C adapters or the best USB-C hubs. Inside the gorgeous chassis, you get an upgraded 8th-gen dual-core processor, Intel UHD graphics and the SSDs now run 60% faster and support larger sizes than the 2017 line. We didn’t expect the new MacBook Air’s form factor to improve given it was already pleasingly discrete but it’s now 10% smaller and a quarter of a pound lighter. The 2018 MacBook Air prices start higher than ones for the 2017 edition did, but we’ll compare the latest deals for you below thanks to our engaged price comparison technology. Prices for the new MacBook Air 2018 start at $1199 / £1199 / AU$1849 for the entry level versions. So anything under that is a bonus for the newest member of the cheap MacBook Air family.

We have to admit, we thought Apple was done with the MacBook Air line after the Pro lineup became just as compact and almost as light. In 2017, Apple gave the 13-inch MacBook Air its first update since 2015. This meant you could get a much healthier 8GB of RAM instead of 4GB along with a processor upgrade to 1.8GHz (over 1.6GHz) making it much better at multi-tasking. Stock of this older MacBook Air will gradually run out at retailers as the newer model above phases it out, and MacBook prices could fluctuate due to its age. But while new stock is still available, this is your best bet for a cheap MacBook Air.

Apple didn’t release a standard MacBook in 2018 or 2019, instead focusing on the Air and Pro lines, so this is the newest regular MacBook you can buy. The screen and compact dimensions on the 2017 MacBook are the same as the 2016 edition. The main improvement with the latest version is the inclusion of the 7th-gen Kaby Lake processors in either m3, i5 or i7 configurations. 2015 MacBook owners are the most likely to notice and appreciate the improvements, but if you’re still looking for a cheap MacBook and the Air model doesn’t provide the power you need, these MacBook prices could be for you.

Shop cheap luxury laptops with refurbished MacBook deals
The internal specifications on the 2016 12-inch MacBook might be lagging behind the most recent version nowadays, but if you’re not planning on pushing the device too hard with demanding tasks then it could be a great money-saving option for you. While some of the cheapest prices might be reserved for refurbs, the 2016 MacBook is still a fantastic device and it’s one of the most portable options in Apple’s laptop lineup.

The newest 15-inch Apple MacBook Pro 2019 is strictly-speaking just the 2018 model stuffed with even more powerful spec. Depending on how much cash you’re willing to splash, you can get up to 32GB of RAM with 9th-gen i7 6-core or i9 8-core processor options available too. So yes, this is easily the most powerful MacBook Pro Apple has ever released, but unless you’ve got some seriously demanding professional-level kit that requires that much grunt, you’re probably better off checking out some of the older, cheaper MacBook Pros models below instead and saving yourself some serious cash. There are also rumours of a 16-inch MacBook Pro coming soon, so you might want to hedge your bets until then.

The 2018 version of the 13-inch Apple MacBook Pro is the best yet, comes with the Touch Bar as standard on most models and features a range of improvements. The screen resolution may be the same with the excellent Retina display, but now there’s True Tone technology inside that senses ambient lighting in the room or outdoors to adjust the brightness of the screen for the best possible picture. The keyboard is quieter and less ‘clicky’ too. You’re getting the brand new 8th-gen Coffee Lake core processor and the quad-core CPUs have doubled the performance of the 2017 models. With more options for larger RAM too, options really open up for creatives and professionals with the MacBook Pro 2018. If you’re looking for the best MacBook Pro prices for the highest performance, the 13-inch 2018 model may be for you.

The larger 15-inch version of the 2018 MacBook Pro with the Touch Bar is generally going to cost a fair bit more than the 13-inch model, but that’s not just because of the larger screen. Apple have also pumped an impressive range of specs inside this bigger model. Increased RAM supports the extra processing power (a six core Coffee Lake processor), and larger SSD storage opens your MacBook Pro to even greater multitasking and more complex workflows. The True Tone screen technology and quieter keyboard are also added improvements over the 2017 model. This really is a powerhouse laptop for designers and industry creatives. If you don’t need all that gear though, we’d consider the cheap MacBook Pro 13-inch model. Or, you could always opt for an older MacBook Pro – prices are likely to be much better.

The older 13-inch MacBook Pros are amongst the cheaper options if you want to go Pro. These versions don’t come with a Touch Bar which is something to factor in when comparing how much you’ll save versus the added functionality the new tech could add to your work and computing life in general. These are incredibly light for MacBook Pros, but they still pack an incredible punch with 2.3GHz and dual core processors ranging from i5 to i7. The trackpads are larger than older MacBook Pros too and you’re getting fantastic Retina displays which still look stunning today. This is a cheap MacBook Pro price that reflects the age of the laptop but also maintains that Apple power to keep your older model running well.

Microsoft to pay cash bounties on Xbox bugs

Microsoft has announced the launch of an official bug bounty program for Xbox in an effort to improve the gaming platform’s network and services. The software giant has said that it will pay anywhere from $500 to $20,000 for vulnerabilities discovered in the platform’s online service Xbox Live. While security researchers typically have the most to gain from bug bounty programs, Microsoft has said that anyone, regardless of their position, can submit vulnerabilities to its new program.

In a blog post announcing the Xbox Bounty program, program manager at the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC), Chloé Brown explained that to be eligible, submissions will require a proof of concept (POC) that is easily understandable, saying: “The Xbox bounty program invites gamers, security researchers, and technologists around the world to help identify security vulnerabilities in the Xbox network and services, and share them with the Microsoft Xbox team through Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure (CVD). Eligible submissions with a clear and concise proof of concept (POC) are eligible for awards up to US$20,000.”
Xbox Bounty program
Microsoft’s latest bug bounty program will cover the Xbox Live cloud backend infrastructure and vulnerabilities that allow for remote code execution will have the highest payouts at up to $20,000. Escalation of privilege flaws can earn security researchers up to $8,000 and flaws that allow a user to bypass security features are worth $5,000.The new Xbox Bounty program also comes with some restrictions. For instance, Microsoft will prohibit and automatically disqualify anyone who attempts to phish or social engineer Xbox users and engineers while searching for bugs as well as anyone who moves laterally inside the Xbox network beyond what is needed to prove a vulnerability’s impact. Downloading or accessing sensitive Xbox user data is also prohibited under the program’s rules. The Xbox platform was first announced at E3 before it was released in October of 2012. A year later, Microsoft created its first bug bounty program but it only applied to Windows and the company’s other software. The Xbox Bounty program is a win for Microsoft as well as for consumers who will benefit from a smoother and more secure online experience while playing games on the company’s consoles.

The cheapest Samsung tablet prices and sales in February 2020

Android tablet enthusiasts around the world are keen to see the cheapest Samsung tablet prices and we’re here to meet that need. The very best Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablets can be surprisingly expensive. That’s where we come in though, with our price comparison technology working hard to find you the best prices from the most reliable retailers. We’ll find you the latest offers for all of the still-available Samsung Galaxy Tab S family and the cheaper Tab A series too.If you’re after the latest Galaxy Tab S6 or S5e, you’re in luck, as we’ve added the latest prices for Samsung’s powerful slates to make sure you save as much money as possible. We’ll walk you through various older models too so you can work out which one is best for you. If you’re looking for a wider variety of manufacturers, make sure you check out our cheap tablets page. And if you’re interested in the rival Apple tablets, be sure to take a peek at our roundup of the the best iPad deals.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 really wants to replace your other devices, be it your laptop, or maybe even your iPad Pro. It comes with a feature-rich S Pen stylus that recharges in a super convenient magnetic groove on the back of the tablet when not in use. Dex mode works beautifully as a Chromebook-like operating system, although to get the most out of it, you’ll need to fork out even more money on the BookCover keyboard (now featuring a touch pad too). Considering the steep price of the Galaxy Tab S6, Samsung would have won us over much more if the keyboard came as standard. The battery should get you through a workday and we are impressed at how easily you can switch between work tasks or just kick back and enjoy the gorgeous screen and surprisingly loud speakers for media playback and web browsing too. If casual use is more your thing for a Samsung tablet, then we’d advise checking out the prices of the cheaper models below instead.

The Galaxy Tab S5e isn’t quite a full-on upgrade to the S4, instead, it has mix of improvements and minor cuts to bring the price down quite a lot. You’re still getting the same gorgeous AMOLED screen and Dex connectivity as the more expensive S4. The Tab S5e is actually even thinner, lighter and includes a fingerprint scanner. The processor is a touch slower in the S5e, but not by a huge margin. You don’t get a stylus here either as the S5e’s screen isn’t compatible with any type of pen and it also lacks a traditional 3.5mm headphone port. If the lack of pen support isn’t going to be an issue for you though, we’d go for this model over the more expensive Tab S4.

The latest version of the cheapest 10-inch Samsung Tablet is a sleeker affair than past iterations and the price is pleasantly low too. The RAM is a bit low, but if you’re not going to push anything too demanding on the tablet that wont be a problem. If you just want a nice Full HD tablet to browse the web and watch film and TV content on then this is an excellent option and feels even better in the hand thanks to the new metal chassis that you’d expect to find on tablets costing far more than the asking price here.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 deals are looking better than ever now that the new flagship S6 has launched. The Tab S4 is a step up from the older tablets as Samsung has attempted to bring an optional desktop experience to the operating system to make it compete with Microsoft’s professional-facing Surface devices. Sadly, this also means you’ll have to buy the keyboard and mouse separately if you want the full Dex experience. The S Pen Stylus is included at no extra charge though. Truth be told, if you’re not too bothered about the new desktop-modes, you could save a lot of money by opting for the older, but still excellent, Tab S3 model.Read our full Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 review

Samsung’s 2017 still packs a mean punch and prices have dropped very nicely since then thanks to the newer models. With a glass back, it’s clearly been taking style tips from the gorgeous Samsung Galaxy phone lineup and the new Super AMOLED screen supports HDR too – a tablet first at the time. While still not what you’d call a cheap tablet by any stretch of the imagination, you can often save a lot of money with the S3 compared to the best prices of the newer Tabs. So take a look at the specs list for the two, and is this will do the job just as well, why not save a bit of cash?Read our full review: Samsung Galaxy Tab S3

With a stunning AMOLED screen to match many of Samsung’s phones smartphones, this 9.7-inch Android tablet is still one we really like. It’s super thin – thinner even than the iPad Air 2 – and is also super lightweight but very powerful. The battery isn’t the best if you’re away from a powerpoint for the day though and the RAM is a little low compared to the newer versions, but if you’re not going to be putting the Tab S2 through too many intensive apps, it should still be pretty slick. It’s usually less than half the price of the newest Samsung tablet in the series though which is a huge selling point in of itself.Read our full review: Samsung Galaxy Tab S2

Prices for the 8-inch and 9.7-inch S2 frequently cross paths, making if difficult to recommend one over the other. One the one hand getting a bigger screen for less money sounds like the better deal, but maybe you’d prefer the smaller screen if you’re on the move more or you find large tablets a bit unwieldy. The battery on this version is smaller which is another element to consider. The screen resolution is the same, but the PPI (pixel per inch) density is greater on the smaller screen, so it looks just a tiny bit better.Read our full review: Samsung Galaxy Tab S2

7-inch tablets are the ideal size for most people, offering a screen bigger than smartphones (although some are getting close to this size now!) but still being comfortable to hold in one hand while reading or watching video. The nonslip backing ensures it won’t be sliding out of your hand either. The 7-inch Galaxy Tab A is also a great size tablet to take with you out of the house on your commute or on your hols. And with a battery that lasts up to 11 hours between charges, you’ll be doing just that as much as you want and be able to leave the charger at home if you’re only out for a day or two.
